Ale-Makasiini Sold its Business Operations to Tokmanni

Kotka & co. acted as advisor to the seller in a transaction where the business operations of Ale-Makasiini Matti Riikonen Oy were sold to Tokmanni Group plc. The operations comprise the Ale-Makasiini general discount retailer stores, which are well established in their areas, in nine locations (Äänekoski, Suolahti, Viitasaari, Saarijärvi, Laukaa, Siilinjärvi, Pielavesi, Pihtipudas and Kangasniemi). In 2017, the revenue of the sold operations was EUR 19.7 million and it encompasses 89 employees.

Tokmanni is Finland’s leading general discount retailer by number of stores and revenue. In 2017, Tokmanni’s revenue totalled EUR 796 million, and the company had around 3,200 employees on average. Tokmanni is also the only nationwide general discount retailer in Finland, and it had 175 stores around the country on 31 December 2017.
