Customer case • 31.03.2016

Sampo Rosenlew starts cooperation with Mahindra & Mahindra, part of the Mahindra group headquartered in Mumbai, India in order to increase its combine harvester business especially in Asia, Middle East and Africa.

Sampo Rosenlew will at the same time broaden its ownership base. Mahindra & Mahindra will acquire 35 % equity stake in Sampo Rosenlew. Kotka & co. acted as the financial and legal advisor to the Company and the Sellers in the transaction.

Sampo Rosenlew will continue in its existing core markets independently and with its current partners.

“With Mahindra & Mahindra we have a possibility to grow and make Sampo Rosenlew a truly global player in the agricultural machinery busines as well as enter into the new market areas in which our own resources would not be sufficient. Working in partnership with leading agricultural machinery manufacturers has been the way of working for Sampo Rosenlew for many years. Already today we handle our distribution, after sales services and part of the joint production with our partners in the Nordic markets, Europe and North Africa. This strategic partnership with Mahindra & Mahindra is a natural step towards the world’s fastest growing markets in Asia, Middle East and Africa together with the strongest possible partner. With this collaboration we aim to increase the manufacturing volumes in combine harvesters and components in Pori”, says Jali Prihti, CEO of Sampo Rosenlew Ltd.

Kotka & co, based in Satakunta, has been an integral part of more than two hundred national and international Mergers & Acquisition projects. We provide a full range of advisory services. The transaction between Sampo Rosenlew and Mahindra is a good example of Kotka & co. simultaneously acting as the financial, tax and legal advisor to the Sellers in an international transaction.
